Tips, tricks & traps
- The disk prolapse patient has often unhealthy movement habits. For more prevention of the illness, the patient "must" register in a special Rückenschule (back school)", the costs will be covered by the insurance companies (according to individual rules).
- In case of a psychological situation, the patient "must" get psychological support and advisable get a psychosomatic therapy (with the approval of the physician)
- Reference to a Selbsthilfgruppe (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfegruppen e.V., Friedrichstr. 28, 35392 Gießen).
- Since the patient is absolutely dependent in the period when he is resting in bed, a bell at his side is advisable to help him get support when necessary.
- Night: possibly bed bars (increases safety feeling, is arranged by the physician).
